Diversity Issues and Strategies for Success in Long Term Care: A Forum for Supervisors

Who should participate?
Nurse supervisors, charge nurses, home care managers, service coordinators and others who supervise direct care workers (certified nurse assistants, nurse aides, home health aides, personal care assistants, etc) in long term care settings - including home health and residential.

What is the purpose of the program?
This interactive forum will focus on mastering everyday diversity challenges in the long term care setting by creating learning moments and sharing best practices and insights.

How will this program benefit me & my organization?
Participants will walk away with practical success strategies for handling a variety of diversity challenges, including

  • gender,
  • generational,
  • religious,
  • cultural and
  • ethnic interactions . . .

that occur

  • among workers,
  • between workers and management, and
  • between workers and residents/patients.

Cost: FREE - the cost of your participation in this program is being paid through grant funding by the Workforce Investment Board of Lancaster County

Program length: Two 3 hour sessions (participants must attend both sessions)

What is covered in the program?
Some prework will be required and will be distributed well in advance of the forum. This prework is intended to pave the way for each participant's full and active participation and engagement in the forum.

The forum will cover:

  • common diversity challenges in long term care and healthcare settings
  • effective strategies for addressing diversity challenges
  • creative best practices related to diversity challenges
